GALVANIZED IRON

Galvanized iron is iron or steel that has been coated with a layer of zinc to protect it from corrosion. This coating is achieved through a process called galvanization, which involves dipping the iron or steel into molten zinc. The resulting zinc layer acts as a barrier, preventing moisture and oxygen from reaching the underlying metal and thereby significantly increasing its lifespan.

Galvanized iron is known for its durability, making it a popular choice in construction and outdoor applications where exposure to the elements is a concern. It offers excellent resistance to rust and corrosion, especially in environments that are prone to humidity and moisture.

In terms of mechanical properties, galvanized iron maintains the strength and flexibility of the base metal while gaining the added benefit of corrosion resistance. It can be easily welded, though precautions must be taken to avoid inhaling zinc fumes during the welding process.
Additionally, galvanized iron can be painted or powder-coated for further protection and aesthetic purposes.

Overall, galvanized iron is a versatile and cost-effective material used in various industries, including construction, automotive, and agriculture, due to its combination of strength, durability, and corrosion resistance.
